| HUNTINGTON,NY...Dr. Beatrice C. Engstrand, M.D., F.A.A.N., is
a board-certified neurologist, fellow of the American Academy of Neurology of Neurology, assistant professor of neurology at New York Medical College, and published author.
She practices clinical neurology in Huntington, LI, is president of the Neurodegenerative Disease Foundation, and is a recognized expert in her field.

her radio program that she personally designed and created..."Neurology with Dr. Engstrand," each Sunday night from In her radio broadcasts, Dr. Engstrand invites her listening audience and the medical community to explore a host of topics.. .with the ultimate goal of improving her listeners' mental, physical and emotional well-being. These topics include creative pursuits and holistic remedies, as well as traditional state-of-the-art scientific advances. Each week, Dr. Engstrand is joined by expert guests to discuss these topical issues. A brief glimpse into her personal life illustrates how well Dr. Engstrand is suited to this type of programming. A cyst had been removed from the roof of Dr. Engstrand's mouth a year before medical school, but pain and dimming vision persisted. One year later, Dr. Engstrand underwent a radical maxillectomy to save her life. So began her odyssey of pain, frustration, despair---and courage. The candid story of her education in the midst of discouragement and fear is chronicled in her inspirational autobiography, "The Gift of Healing---A Legacy of Hope." Because of her outstanding determination and commitment to the medical profession, Dr. Engstrand has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including being named Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology; Distinction Magazine's 2003 Woman of the Year; Young Physician, New York State Representative; and an Honorary Doctorate from Lehigh University, to name a few. In addition, as the neurologist of record in the famed New York City jogger case, Dr. Engstrand was the subject of a moving Reader's Digest story entitled, "The White Sneakers" in July 1995. She was also featured in a People Magazine story.
Dr Engstrand received her B.A. from Lehigh University in 1982, and was class
valedictorian at Berner High School. She earned her medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania, and did residency training at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, LI. She also did residency training in Neurology at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center; Downstate/Kings County Medical Center; and studied movement disorder at England's famed National Hospital. Dr. Engstrand is equally known for her passionate commitment to international adoption. She is the proud mother of two Russian children, James Christian Engstrand, Age 3, and Claudia Beatrice Danielle Engstrand, age 3. Throughout her life, Dr. Engstrand has proven herself to be a champion of the sick, and a voice of courage in the darkness. Her personal story of triumph and healing gives her the unique perspective on the human condition that has brought so much comfort to her thousands of loyal patients and radio listeners. |
